Key handover and smart locks
Arrival is the guest's first experience of the property — and the most common reason owners stay tied to daily operations.
In short: We handle check-in so the owner never has to be present. In practice this means a smart lock or a key box, a booking-specific code and clear arrival instructions in the guest's own language. In Lapland this matters, because many arrivals follow late evening flights.

How does a guest get in with nobody there?
Before arrival the guest receives a message with the address, driving directions, parking instructions and a booking-specific door code. The code is valid only for the stay and rotates automatically for the next guest.
If the property has a mechanical lock, a key box is used with a code on the same principle.
Is a smart lock worth installing?
Usually yes. A smart lock removes lost keys, enables late arrivals without arrangements, and gives the cleaning team its own access without a separate key run.
| Solution | Benefit | Considerations |
|---|---|---|
| Smart lock | Per-booking codes, no key logistics | Needs installation and building approval |
| Key box | Affordable, works with a mechanical lock | Codes changed manually, keys can be lost |
| In-person handover | Meeting the guest | Time-consuming and fails with delayed flights |
What happens if a guest cannot get in?
Guest communication runs around the clock, so the guest reaches us immediately. Typical situations — a mistyped code, a flat battery, a stuck door — are solved on the phone or by sending the local team.
The owner does not get a call at night. This is one of the most concrete reasons owners outsource management.
